Comcast Business Router Login: Access Admin Page

If you’re a Comcast Business Internet subscriber, you’ve probably got your hands on a Comcast Business Router. The Comcast Business router is an “all-in-one D3 wireless device” that provides three key features to its subscribers. Firstly, its most important feature is access to a Business IP Gateway. We’ll later discuss in more detail how you can access this gateway and the default login required to do so. Moreover, the Comcast Business Router provides a Private WiFi network and an Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot service. Both of which can be disabled if you wish to do so.

What Is A Comcast Business Router?

Comcast Business Routers are a series of wireless devices that are capable of providing the Comcast Business Internet package to its subscribers. These devices are necessary because not all modems and routers are compatible with Business Internet. The most commonly supported manufacturers are Cisco, Netgear, Arris, Motorola, and TP-Link.

The model shown below is the Cisco DPC3939B and is the one that is frequently recommended by Comcast when using their Business Internet package. It has all the features of a standard all-in-one router such as WPS(Wireless Protected Setup) capability, 4 Ethernet Lan Ports, Cable(Coax) Connecter, and Telephone Ports.

A Comcast Business Router gives access to the business wireless gateway network. This type of network produces 4 WiFi networks. These are Xfinity WiFi hotspots (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks) and Private WiFi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks).

The 2.4GHz allows the wireless connection to reach further distance but has difficulty passing through certain materials. On the other hand, the 5.4GHz signal can only travel shorter distances but pass more easily through obstructions. To use both 2.4GHz and 5GHz offered by Comcast, you should check to see if your Comcast Business router supports it.

Whenever you try to connect to Wi-Fi from a computer, you should see a 5 GHz “Network Name” (SSID) in the list of available networks. If you’re unsure whether your device supports 5 GHz be sure to check your manufacturer’s website and/or documentation.

How To Setup Comcast Business Router?

In this section, we’ll explain how you can set up your Comcast Business Router. Before you begin, plug the AC power adapter provided with the Comcast Business Router to turn it on. As you’ll most likely be using this device in a business environment, place the router near the center of the area where your computers operate to ensure maximum coverage.

It’s also recommended that your keep the router elevated above any other obstructions such as tables, cubicles, chairs, etc. Now that you’ve positioned your business router, let’s get started on the set-up. Just follow the steps below and you’ll have it ready in no time.

  1. On the bottom label of your Comcast Business Router, find the Network Key(password). This password is case-sensitive and you’ll need it for the following steps. Moreover, the Network Name SSID 1 is your 2.4 GHz connection, whilst the SSID 2 is the 5 GHz connection.

Turn on your computer and connect to the 2.4 GHz connection from your Wi-Fi settings. The network name will be the same as the one shown on the label.

  1. You’ll be asked to enter a password, hence enter the case-sensitive password located on the bottom label of the router.
  2. Lastly, test your internet connection by accessing a website such as www.xfinitycom.
  3. If your device supports 5 GHz connections as well, you should see something like a “CBCI-XXXX-5” network(name varies based on the manufacturer). Connect to it from your computer and repeat the steps above.

That’s all there is to it! You’ve successfully set-up your Comcast Business Router. However, before you go on and start browsing the web, you need to log in to Comcast’s default gateway and manage your network and security settings. We’ll discuss this in the section below.
